3o years in media provides perspective

I have been on both ends of the interview process – asking the questions – as well as an executive communications consultant preparing nervous C-suite leaders to succeed at an unfamiliar skill.

At the Chicago Tribune, I interviewed Bill Gates, unboxed the first iPhone, and wrote a nationally distributed personal technology column. I knew how to get the story I wanted.

At BCW (Burson, Cohn & Wolfe), a Top 3 global communications firm, I taught leaders if they embraced interviews, they could learn to control the conversation with a reporter. That is a powerful trick.
